Code of Conduct, or Better Living through Common Sense

Unemployed is a guild filled with great, awesome people. We will earn respect by showing respect. Even to those, and sometimes especially to those, who ordinarily may not deserve or return such respect. We're a proud bunch, us Unemployed. We value our honor. Your actions reflect upon the entire guild, and any misconduct or disrespect of fellow players will not be tolerated. I repeat, don't fuck around, as it will not be tolerated. We want to maintain a reputation for being a guild of quality, trustworthy, helpful, and active members. Do your best to live up to those expectations. Respect yo'self foo.

The following are not tolerated and may result in disciplinary action and/or getting your punk ass /gkicked:

Racism, sexism, bigotry, or promotion of real-life violence toward another person. Yes, this includes slurs based on race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and all that good shit. (Ex. if you call someone a faggot in guild chat, don't blink or you may miss your kickage.)

Harassment of another player, whether in guild or out. It's your responsibility to not be an idiot. This is a game. We're supposed to have fun. If someone's bugging the hell out of you, use the appropriate channels (/ignore, report to an officer in our guild or theirs, report to a GM).

Unethical play of ANY kind. Cheating of ANY kind. By cheating, I mean gaining an unfair advantage. This includes (but is not limited to) hacking/botting, ninjalooting, buying gold/powerleveling, afkaving. Yes, intentionally wiping a group counts. So does screwing people out of gold. If you're not sure whether what you're doing is considered unethical/cheating, then it probably is.

Spamming. Whether in general, trade, guild chat, yells, vent, I don't care where. Spamming is annoying as hell and the Gods of Unemployed will smite you.

Begging. see "Spamming."

Remember, that little guild tag over your head makes you a representative of Unemployed. Don't be an asshat.

Conflict Disputes

No matter how much everyone gets along, arguments are bound to occur. These should not occur in Guild Chat or Raid Chat, however. Reserve your arguments for whispers and contact an Officer if you need further resolution.

Also, from time to time, you may question a policy or procedure that we have in place, and maybe have a thoughtful argument for a better policy. These are encouraged, but should be done on the forums. Guild Chat and Raid Chat are not the places for such discussions.

Finally, negative behavior is frowned upon and may be punishable through disciplinary action and or removal from the guild. This includes voicing distaste for the guild as a whole and/or guild members, as well as complaining about guild activities/policies/general way of conducting itself. (Within this policy we do allow for a negative attitude, but not consistently or to a degree where it disrupts guild activities or the guild as a whole). In other words, an isolated incident or two won't adversely affect you... however continuously beating a dead horse or constant complaining will.

Guild Chat (Ingame, Vent and Forums)

Forums

Our guild forums are information central for Unemployed. It is here that we post information we need to get out to the entire guild and it's important that you check the guild forums frequently to stay up to date on policies and happenings in the guild. The forums also offer a sense of community and a place to kick back and discuss ingame happenings, out-of-game happenings, schedule and plan both in- and out-of-game events and leave messages for one another.

We would like to remind everyone that text-based chats don't have the physical flags many of us use for communication. There are no facial expressions to watch, no voice inflections to hear and so on, so at times it may be difficult to correctly interpret what is being said by a poster. Please make sure that you have truly assessed a post before you go in guns blazing. On the flip side, realize that your guildmates have quite good reading comprehension skills and your being a jerk in a post will not go slyly by them. Bottom line: own what you post.

While the leadership does monitor the posts on this board, we rarely shut down threads in the forum, as nine times out of ten, discussions, even heated ones, bring change and results. At the same time, keep in mind that discussion != argument. We ask all members to post constructively; trolling and flame wars are absolutely not tolerated.

While we welcome all players to post, we would like to remind our players that guild issues and information need to remain in the guild-only areas of the site and to behave yourselves in the open areas of any forum (ours or any other official or unofficial Blizzard/WoW sites).

Guild / Party / Raid Chat

Though we are pretty loose in our guild chat we ask that you please be sensitive since it is a general chat and is used by all players to successfully play the game and be part of our guild. Please refrain from the following:

We do not tolerate derogatory remarks and words made in a malicious manner pertaining to ethnicity or sexual orientation. We have a very multicultural guild and people who have alternative lifestyles. Though some things may be said in jest, in a text-based chat it may not come across with the same humorous tone you had intended.

Though the following topics are not completely taboo they are generally pretty good ones to avoid (and are generally limited to Vent between 3am and 4:15am after a minimum blood alcohol level of .05%) as they are areas of strong personal beliefs and generally will take on a life of their own in the form of arguments that can quickly escalate:

Politics
Religion

If a conversation in any of these topics ever begins to escalate you will be asked by one of the officers to please take it to a different channel and out of guild/party chat. If you refuse to do so you could be placed on probation or asked to leave the guild.

Any arguing will not be tolerated.

Vent Chat

You may have guests in our Vent server while you are in a party with them or PVPing. There should never be unattended guests on our Vent server.

General Vent chat IS an adult chat, please keep this in mind. Though we are looser in the general Vent chat, we still do not tolerate attacks or malicious derogatory remarks of any type.

If you are in party chat with an instance group please follow the same guidelines that you would for guild chat.

We welcome any guild member into most open channels to listen in on various instance runs and raids so feel free to come in and listen. We do ask that those listening do not interfere with the run going on. No one wants to hear how your cousin Jim Bob's guild killed the boss and no one wants to talk over you to explain boss fights or make calls while you tell us about your new whatever. In other words, unless you are asked a question, do not speak.

Special Note About All Chat Channels

Unemployed has a very unique environment and we walk a very fine line in guild chat and Vent between being raunchy/playful and being offensive. Yes, we're very aware of the paradox we have created in laying out a policy regarding much of the chat when the chat itself is very edgy. Bottom line is this: Unemployed is a terrible guild for the easily offended. If you are such a person you will not be comfortable with us nor we with you. To those who are comfortable with the environment: remember that it is a fine line and be careful not to cross it. Know the difference between playful banter and attacking and when to back off.
